BSW, MSc., RSW, RCC, C.Hyp, ADHD-CCSP
Jennifer Mussell is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia offering virtual and phone therapy. She provides online EMDR therapy in BC for trauma, anxiety, and depression, and ADHD-informed counselling for individual adults.
With a client-centered, trauma-informed, and inclusive approach at the core of her practice, Jennifer values offering a safe, healing space that recognizes the connection between mind and body to allow for emotional expression, truth sharing, and compassionate support. She encourages goal setting and skill building to create behavioural and emotional balance.
A central focus of Jennifer’s practice is EMDR therapy, an evidence-based approach that helps clients create meaningful, lasting change without needing to stay stuck in painful experiences. She supports clients to process and move beyond forms of emotional distress such as:
trauma
anxiety
panic
depression
overwhelm
post traumatic stress
complex PTSD
complex grief
relationship issues
dysfunctional patterns/behaviors
In their work with Jennifer, clients will find a compassionate and engaged therapist who helps them imagine desired outcomes and create a roadmap to achieve their goals. She balances offering a safe space to process emotions, explore and address past trauma, and focus on future steps and practical supports.
Through a collaborative approach, interventions are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual, drawing on integrative approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and narrative therapy. Jennifer’s expertise extends across a spectrum of challenges including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career concerns, grief and loss, parenting and caregiving, and substance use.
Jennifer offers ADHD-informed support to neurodivergent clients. Exploration of the impact of ADHD on day to day functioning and experiences, relationships, employment and more allows Jennifer to support her clients to develop skills and strategies to manage the impact ADHD has on their life. She also provides assistance to amplify the many strengths that come alongside the challenges of neurodiversity. Her status as an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider highlights her skills, training and experience in this area of practice.
Clients appreciate Jennifer’s warm demeanor, insightful guidance, and collaborative spirit, making her a trusted partner in their personal growth and healing journeys. She encourages clients to inquire about her values and methods in order to find the best client-counsellor fit.
For clients who are interested, Jennifer integrates Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapy to increase the benefits of CBT or narrative therapy. Hypnotherapy is used to support clients dealing with a range of issues including: inner child healing, PTSD and other trauma, anxiety, confidence, motivation, anger management, and breaking unwanted habits. Much as we often find ourselves lost in thought, adrift in music, or immersed in work, Jennifer uses hypnotherapy to support clients to harness their natural ability to drift off and then guides them through a personalized therapeutic experience, promoting lasting positive change and emotional well-being. Jennifer's training through Daybreak Therapy and Training and her designation as a Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist-Trauma Specialty (C.Hyp) allows her to provide thoughtful and competent hypnotherapy services to her clients.
Jennifer has a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Northern British Columbia and a Master of Science in Psychology from California Southern University. She is a Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers and a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
