Katie St. Jean (she/her)
MSW, RSW, RCC
Katie offers phone and online counselling to clients across British Columbia. She offers individual counselling (18+) and relationship/couples therapy.
Katie approaches therapy with sensitivity and compassion, providing a non-judgmental space for you to share your story, learn more about yourself, and explore what’s going on beneath the surface. She can help you understand where you’re getting stuck and find ways to move towards change, healing and growth.
Her approach places emphasis on identifying, exploring and understanding your emotions – leading to greater emotional awareness, self-understanding, and an increased ability to manage anxiety, stress and whatever comes your way in life. Katie integrates attachment science into her practice. Exploring attachment patterns and dynamics can help you gain insight into how your early life experiences impact you, and help you foster a healthier connection with yourself and those around you.
Katie enjoys working with clients of all genders and sexual orientations, body sizes, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds. She strives for her counselling practice to be anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and inclusive.
Individual Counselling
Katie works with adults who are looking to better understand themselves, their emotions, and their relationships. Many of her clients come to therapy feeling stuck in familiar patterns, struggling with difficult relationships, navigating a significant change in life circumstances, or wanting to build a stronger sense of self.
Her work is grounded in the belief that greater self-awareness can lead to meaningful change. Together, you can explore the experiences, emotions, and relationship patterns that may be shaping your current challenges, while developing new ways of responding to yourself and others with greater understanding and compassion.

Relationship and Couples Therapy
Katie is passionate about helping people improve their relationships and has seen firsthand the positive impact that healthy, loving, secure, and supportive connections can have on our lives. Relationship therapy can include romantic relationships, friendships, or family relationships.
She supports clients using evidence-based counselling approaches that emphasize enhancing emotional connection, improving communication, working through conflict, and increasing/restoring respect in relationships. She also helps build or restore affection and intimacy between partners. Katie is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2), and uses both of these approaches in relationship and couples therapy.
Katie understands the vulnerability that often comes with showing up to a couples counselling session for the first time. She works to offer a space that allows everyone to feel safe to share, and to feel heard, respected and involved in the process.
Katie enjoys working with couples who want to:
Improve connection and communication
Move through conflict in ways that feel productive rather than painful
Strengthen emotional and physical intimacy
Foster greater trust, appreciation, and respect
Repair and reconnect after breaches of trust
Navigate difficult conversations with greater understanding and care
Stay connected through life transitions and changing family dynamics
Strengthen their relationship as they prepare for parenthood or welcome a new baby
