Jenny Harris (she/her)
Counselling Student Intern

Jenny is a dedicated Counselling Student Intern offering phone and virtual/video low-cost counselling services to adults across British Columbia. Her passion lies in partnering with clients to navigate life's challenges and foster personal growth.

Jenny believes in the power of collaboration. Working together, she helps clients set goals, make decisions, and explore solutions. Practicing from an intersectional perspective, Jenny recognizes that people are multifaceted and unique. She approaches her work with curiosity and respect for how your experiences and identities have shaped your values, beliefs, and goals. This understanding forms the basis of your journey together.

Jenny provides counselling services to individuals navigating a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, parenting, boundary setting, navigating life transitions, healthy relationship building, and self-empowerment work. Each session will focus on what you feel is most important for you.

Jenny’s practice is grounded in strengths-based and client-centered approaches. Drawing from multiple counselling modalities, including emotion-focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, somatic therapy, and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), Jenny tailors your sessions to meet your unique needs.

With a diverse professional background, Jenny brings a unique blend of experiences to her counselling practice. She served as a paramedic with BC Ambulance, during which she developed strong skills in crisis management and effective communication. Additionally, she has substantial experience in the mental health and addiction field, where she gained valuable insights into the complexities of these issues. Currently, she is passionately dedicated to working with women and children escaping family violence, and providing them with a safe haven for healing.

Jenny’s academic journey has been marked by a commitment to understanding human behaviour and social systems. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria, which laid a solid foundation for her current pursuit of a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. This ongoing educational journey fuels her passion for offering the best possible care to her clients, blending academic knowledge with real-world experience.

Our Counselling Student Intern program allows Gravitate Counselling Inc. to offer low-cost, affordable counselling to clients across Vancouver Island and the rest of BC. Jenny is a student member of the BCACC and is supervised by Andee Dale, a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. Learn more about Andee on her profile page.
